Why can't you set a delay for motion sensors in HSM?

Please see this thread: HSM delay for motion sensors

Has anything been done to address this? The suggested solution in that thread is definitely not a solution. Maybe I could write something in rule machine to fix this? I need the motion in my garage to run on a delay so we can disarm the alarm when we get home.

Honestly this is a fairly niche use case. Generally when motion sensors are used for security they are monitoring a internal space and as such would be immediately triggered since the perimeter has been breached. I would suggest using a door sensor on the garage door instead.

@mavrrick58's suggestion makes the most sense. However, if there is some odd reason that doesn't work for you, a quick and dirty solution might be to create a virtual contact sensor and write a really quick and easy RM rule that opens or closes it based on the motion sensor becoming active or going inactive,

Something like this would probably work.

You can set up the delays I have mine set for both armed at home and armed away. Scroll all the way to the bottom of your HSM app and you will see configure arming / disarming/cancel options and you will find it in there

It only allows you to do that for contact sensors, not motion sensors.
I will write a rule for it - thank you all for your suggestions.

Another option might be to try the built-in Zone Motion Controllers app
