First thing, is join one device at a time, so that you know what it is. If you get "generic something" that's good, and the device should work as you expect. Just give it a name and save it. If you get "device", that's bad, and means that it didn't really join properly. Exclude and/or reset that device (if Z-Wave, exclude it using Settings / Z-Wave Info / Z-Wave Exclude -- follow mfr instructions for exclude, usually just hit the button). Then try again to pair it. I started from scratch with no hub experience. I read 'Latest' here for 2 weeks before I had a clue.

With the new Iris hub converts, one of the larger problems seems to have been version 1 Iris devices which will not work on HE.
