When posting device information from Amazon, getting error

Trying to post Amazon product page for Samsung SmartThings GP-U999SJVLDAA Smart Outlet. Not getting the product information and photo.
I get this in the preview page...

Not so much an error, just an accurate description of what Amazon would need to change on their side to make this feature of the forum software work.

The link will still post fine, just without the large "preview" box that appears when the other site supports this feature. (You won't see that message in the final post, just the link.)

That being said, I think I remember this working for Amazon before, so maybe they changed something on their side recently (or its a temporary glitch). The feature in general appears to be working fine on the forum side (try linking to any docs page that has a short blurb in the heading under the page title, where the docs platform generates this data from in this case):

...as one example.

It seems to work at random. There are many times that I don't have any problems and it posts the Amazon web page easily. Other times it gives that notification. I thought it might be something I'm doing on my end. But it seems intermittent.

Could be that something’s gone wrong on Amazon’s side.

In general the link preview feature works fine with Amazon product pages. But I’m seeing this too, using the C8 and C8 Pro pages as examples.

Edit: odd, when I preview my own post, I see the same issue (see screenshot below). When I publish the post, the link preview doesn’t seem to expand at all.

That much is normal:

Now one of the link previews expanded and shows the C8 pro product page. The other still just a regular hyperlink.

Still guessing something’s up with amazon today. As I mentioned, I’ve seen this work as intended for Amazon pages in the past. :man_shrugging:

Same here. I had to copy/paste the error from my post preview in my post above, if that makes sense.

That much is normal -- that's a hint shown during preview only. It will be converted to a regular link when posting if, as the message suggests, that information is not available.

My best guess is still that this is a glitch on Amazon's side. I've been able to make this feature work as expected with other links that contain this data.
