What is DTH?

Nothing is more infuriating than to be reading something with a new acronym that I can't find the definition for. Tonight I was reading about SimpliSafe in relation to Hubitat, and several of the comments said things like: "I was using the DTH with....." or SimpliSafe DTH. I have no context for DTH?

I Googled it, and came up with "Direct to Home" in relation to Satellite TV in India, but I don't think that's right.

Reminds me of when I worked for an Insurance Company in the '80s, IMS Database programmers would talk about BPE, APPC, and DBRC, etc., and we non-IMS folks would sum it up as "tweedle dees and bumblebees."

Probably Device Type Handler. (SmartThings description).
If it is, it is referring to the 'Type' the 'device' in question is using.
If you look at the device on the UI you will see the TYPE field.

Doing a quick search, it might stand for "Device Type Handler".

I searched all over and couldn't find that anywhere.

Thank you very much.

FYI, the Hubitat equivalent of a SmartThings device type handler is a driver.

Many DTHs can be used as drivers with minimal modification.

Try being a military contractor. Anything more that three words is made into an acronym. I think they want to exclude the outsiders.

I like it!

This. Hubitat doesn’t use device handlers or device type handlers, it uses drivers.

But many users came from smartthings, and old habits die hard.

When I first migrated from ST to HE, every time a driver was referred to on the forums, I immediately thought of drivers for PCs, like video card driver, sound driver, etc. These type of drivers are the interface between the hardware and the software, and identify the device specifically. This is not unlike the drivers for HE. They also are the interface between the device and the hub and identify it precisely. ST used DTH to be different.
