What does checking the disable device box on the devices page actually do?
I currently have 2 Inoveli bulbs currently unused (through halloween, wife want those torch like bulbs). When i took them outi check that box on both. Is that actually serving a purpose?
I did have a device or two repeating through one of them that really shouldn’t have been. Hopefully those devices get a better routing before I put them back in. So far I have not noticed any adverse actions.
If I'm not mistaking, when a device is disabled, apps and dashboards that use these devices won't receive the commands so even if the device is still on the mesh it never receives any commands and most likely for sensors, all states will not be relayed to the apps either (this I never tested).
Ah. Sounds my thinking about what this does may have been a bit backward then. I was thinking it would essentially blocke the be k from seeing it was supposed to be there. Right now they are sitting on the work bench until Halloween is ove and ill put them back. I was just trying to kepp fron causing too much havoc in my mesh (which there really diesnt seem to have been).
I just wanted to understand if i was using this correctly.
It's best if you exclude them. Just checking disable doesn't inform the mesh that they're not available anymore. Exclude and then re-pair after you put them back.
