So I discovered a discrepancy between speedtest.net browser test and speedtest-cli.
On my linux system (Linux Mint) the command line program is returning very inconsistent results compared to a browser (firefox) based test run from the same system. Same test server.
Browser reports ~220Mbps down while the cli version can vary from ~10Mbps to ~170Mbps, never getting any higher and usually in the 70s-90s. So as a heads up if your using the cli version you may want to compare.
I have since switched to a cli program sponsored by Netflix. Its reported speeds are very consistent and match what I get when downloading multigig files.
