Weird alexa issue

So this is a weird one.... Around 8:30 or 9 this morning all the echo's started going off every few mins (like 2.5 mins) and saying "Speak" . At first I thought one of the kids was doing something but soon realized something was off. I started checking my activity logs on my alexa app and there were several entires with Routine activated, no speech recorded. Again strange as I only have 1 routine that I don't even use. So I deleted the routine. The "Speak" message still went off.

I check HE because I run both Amazon Echo Skill and Echo Speaks... Nothing in the logs or events.

Meanwhile like clockwork they all activate and say, "Speak". It's becoming irritating. On the off chance something is going on with HE I reboot. No changes. I even break down and call Amazon...(Wow that was useless) Finally I shutdown Hubitat all together. No "Speak" for 10 mins. Boot up Hubitat and not a peep since.

So obviously it was something from hubitat (Echo speaks maybe) but I can't find anything in any logs.... Anyone have this happen to them?

I have 5 Echo devices throughout the house. None have gone off like you describe. I too use the Amazon Echo Skill and Echo Speaks. I also have one Google device that is used in conjunction with my Echos, and it too had no issues.

I also have 5 Dots and have not had this issue. I'm using the Amazon Alexa Skill but not Echo Speaks.

Wow! That's certainly memorable, lol! I tried to set up Echo Speaks for the first time this afternoon and even though the Hub shows it as paired correctly, it won't respond to anything, so I suspect something may be going on with the app/driver?

Just for added data points: 9 echo devices in the house (Dots, Flexes, and Shows) using Amazon Echo Skill and Echo Speaks extensively (and I do mean extensively for various announcements etc). Never encountered a similar problem as described in the OP so cannot give any meaningful suggestions other than stating it has to be something unique to the OP’s setup.

So happened again this morning... I removed a custom created zone I had created within Echo Speaks. That seems to have solved the issue... Very strange indeed.

Sounds like Alexa thinks you have a puppy :sunglasses:

Doesn't Alexa have a dog setting for if your dog starts barking? Maybe that got turned on somehow, actually
