Sadly, all my emails from WebCore are now useless as a carrier of SMS information.
My provider (Telus) seems to have blocked any emails that go to the SMS translate function ph#@sms.telus.com. I used to send all my warnings this way for years. It only works from inside the network now so if I send an email to my phone from another Telus device it will send me a text message fine. A proper Email from WC is pointless; Oh, there's a water leak, 5 minutes later is you notice in time. PS someone just opened your window but you're out of town and not Roaming.
What pay-for-use texting service is the favourite? I'm in Canada so this may limit my choices that work ok.
Have you considered just using Pushover?
Same here for AT&T for me (in the US). I used it for notifications for SendMail. First they cut off emails to text. Then, as of 7/28, even emails now. Pushover requires a network connection.
Wouldn’t a cellular data connection needed to receive an SMS also work for pushover notifications?
Cell data not reqd for text.
Oh right, for sms only.
I see Pushover is only 5 USD so if that works it's a bargain - until they get bored of the idea
Wow didn't know this could be done. Turns out Bell Canada allows this!
I set up Pushover and it works fine albeit a little slower than SMS.
I'll give it the 30 day free test and push them 5.00 USD.
Hi,
Does anyone have any first hand experience with this feature of Pushover?
Thanks
"A key feature of our Pushover for Teams service is the ability for team members to configure SMS fallback, which will retry emergency-priority alerts over SMS in cases where the user is out of range of reliable Internet service, or to do custom alerting not possible with our mobile apps due to OS restrictions."
You’ll need to pay 5 bucks a month (per user) for Pushover for Teams.
I'm running Grapheneos on my phone and Pushover requires GSF. I could sandbox Pushover; but thus far I have managed to get by without doing so. I am hoping to continue that streak. Thank You.
I find the pushover personal license (one-time $5) to be well worth it. But admittedly don’t need sms.
