I have 4 original SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor V5 devices.
I bought all off them about 4 years ago in one batch from Amazon.
Originally these sensors were installed on C5 hub but migrated to C7 about 3 years ago.
Until about a month ago (still being on C7) sensors work very well.
Worst case battery life was around 6 month.
About a month ago one sensor suddenly started to drain a battery within less than a week.
Now second one started to do the same thing but this one drains battery in about 2-3 days.
Remaining 2 are still OK (on C8 now) but I assume they will die very soon.
So I ordered a Third Reality Zigbee sensors as a replacement.
Other than components aging I don't see any other reasons for these phenomena.
Also it could be a bad batteries batch but the same batteries are OK with different sensors.
This post just a warning for what may happen with these otherwise very nice sensors.
@vitaliy_kh There have been so many versions of this sensor, which battery does yours take? AAAA or coin? If coin I had similar issue and found it would constantly update status from active to inactive after battery change so I always had to click Configure after changing the battery to make it stop - had it on back of my dryer. I have since changed it to 2 AAA batteries instead via soldering wires to the coin battery terminal and has gone over a year without battery change.
My sensors takes CR2450 coin batteries.
I bought all of them all at once in the middle of 2019.
Just in case I tried to factory reset them and re-pair.
Unfortunately this did not help.
I cannot be 100% sure but I do not remember seeing
excessive activity from this sensors after they started
to drain battery extremely fast. First two drained
batteries within about two weeks. This last one did it
in less than 24 hours.
All of them already replaced with Third Reality sensors.
