There are a lot of cheap Chinese devices on Amazon and other sites, like wifi outlets. The phone apps to control these are super sketchy. They access your contacts, mic, can make phone calls and send texts, access internal storage, and a whole bunch of sketchy things. And, who knows what the device is doing on your local network.
I would highly suggest avoiding these cheap devices, there is definitely something up.
