I have an old ADT alarm system with Honeywell sensors and wall controllers. I was trying to figure out if I could replace the two control panels that I use with my ADT system. I was looking for recommendations for simple touchpads or other panels with screens that I could use. I'd at least like to cover up the holes in the walls where the current controllers are installed. Since the controllers I currently have are wired, it would be fine to replace them with new controllers that are wired. I'd appreciate any suggestions for how to move to a Hubitat system which is similar to what I currently have. Any suggestions would be apppreciated.
Quite a few of us use [RELEASE] HD+ - Android Dashboard
It's an Android app so you can use it on phones, tablets, whatever. It does everything except the dishes.
Thanks for the great tip. It looks very interesting. Do you have any suggestions for a wall holder for a tablet with hidden charger cable? I am thinking of using some small android tablet to mount in place of the Honeywell controllers in my current system.
Yeah, actually I do. I use Loctite-Fun-Tak for every gizmo I want on a wall except heavy framed items. Just a dab the size of a pea in each corner is holding my 10" tablet just fine.
Some people round here have posted positively about these in the past (I haven't used them myself):
Thanks. Had never heard of that. Would you also use this to mount a contact sensor or other similar item on a door or window, or a motion sensor on a wall? I'm looking for something that sticks, but can be removed without damaging the wall. So far I've been using 3m Command strips, but if this works, it seems like a better solution, especially if it survives people interacting with your tablets while they are mounted (ie change of pressure or nudge, etc).
Yes.
I like those too but the putty is reusable
Absolutely does.
Thank you @LosinIt
Bought some and deployed it on various things around the house - this is great stuff. It has kept a portable t-stat with 2 AA batteries in it on the wall. It is particularly great for positioning contact sensors. I had been using 3M Command strips, but the Loctite is MUCH better, because it lets me move the contact sensor around with minimal fuss for optimal positioning. This really works great!!
... and this weekend both t-stats affixed with the loc-tite putty fell off the wall...
I don't know what to tell you, @calinatl I've never had it let go. The heaviest item it's holding to the wall is a 10" Fire tablet with a pea-sized bit of putty in each corner.
