Volume Control of Firestick 4K

I have an echo show and a couple TVs with Firestick 4Ks. Through RM, I can control the volume on the echo show but not on the firesticks. Do any of you know of an issue and/or resolution.

I've also tried to use the "Device" page to "set volume" and test but it seems that doesn't work either..

Isn’t a fire tv stick’s volume controlled by the tv that it’s connected to? In other words, an echo show has its own volume control, a fire stick doesn’t.

You don't control the volume on the Firestick. The volume control on the FS remote is controlling the TV volume. The command is just passed through CEC to the TV.

Thanks for the response... So even though I can use the FS as a "speech device" through the TV, I won't be able to control the volume? ...unless I go through something like a harmony hub or similar??

It might depend on what technology your TV remote uses. Some use Bluetooth and others use IR. I don't know whether the HH is able to do both IR and BT.
If you have a spare HDMI port and a Raspberry Pi, you could likely do something with controlling the volume with CEC.

Thanks again... At least I now know the limitations and won't waste time trying to fix something that isn't broke.

What TV is this attached to? Do you have a sound Bar with HDMI CEC?

I don't know what TV you have but is there an integration with Hubitat? There are a couple of TV integrations somewhere here.

Another thing you might try playing with is that you can link an Echo device with your Fire stick. I have no idea what might be possible with that.

I have a Samsung LN40C630 with a Samsung HW-450C Soundbar. A firestick 4K is used to control both.

I also have a LG-42LD550 connected through a Pioneer VSX-920 receiver. A firestick 4K also controls both.

Both are "smart tvs" and are probably close to 10 years old

At 10 years old it isn't likely to be doable.

Thanks for your time... It's just a conveinience thing for me now. I'll probably add a real speech device in that room.

If you want to get a fire TV cube, it has a built in speaker. It's nothing great but my notifications play through the built in speaker when I am not using the TV and the TV speakers when I am using the cube.
