Created a generic zigbee outlet virtual device but there's not updating on the device page. Doesn't show status, current state, doesn't respond to pressing on or off. Nothing in the events list. Any ideas what i may have missed?
You shouldn't do that. The generic zigbee and z-wave drivers are for physical devices. You should use a virtual switch driver instead for your virtual device.

as @aaiyar said, always use "Virtual {device}" when creating a virtual device. The other types of devices are for physical devices
