Using Nanoleaf Elements as a Thread border router

Hello Everyone,

After having a number of travails with a couple of defunct Nanoleaf Elements controllers, I finally have one that works, and was excited to update it to include it running Thread, which I presume means it's now a border router.

Does anyone have any idea whether this needs to be connected to the Hubitat (I'm using a C8) unit in any different a way than the usual (virtual device + Nanoleaf + IP address + pairing mode + Get Auth Token) for Hubitat to be able to use it?

Alternatively, does it just work? So for instance, if I were to get a Thread bulb, can I add it to the Nanoleaf Thread network and then it'll be visible on Hubitat without any further steps?

Please forgive the obtuseness; I've combed the forums and all the Thread discussions mention using either Homekit or Google Home, which I don't yet have.

Thank you all in advance.

I'm not sure anyone has tried. My guess is you'd need to set it up in Nanoleaf's own app, then put it in "pairing mode" or add another "connected service" in order to use it with Hubitat.

Their other Matter devices have not been usable via the "old" API as far as I have been able to tell. But I've never used their TBRs and haven't seen anyone else try yet...

Hm. I think I'll go and get myself a cheap Thread switch and see if that might work. For science. Thank you for your response. (^_^)

They will route thread but they won't be a thread border router. There is a difference. They can be part of the thread mesh but unlike a border router, they can't be a coordinator. I had this conversation with their support.
