Used C8

hello everyone! i've had enough of my ST that i started looking for deals on a Hubitat hub.
i was hoping for a C8 pro but found a good deal on a C8 and took the plunge.

my question is, since i bought a used C8(2 y.o., with updated firmware per ebay seller), and aside from it factory reset is there anything else i need to check to make sure it is properly working?

Also, would i be fine with the C8 or should i have pushed and looked a for the C8 pro? my household probably has less than 30 devices.

i would like to apologize in advance, as I may be around a lot to ask questions and like to thank everyone very much for your patience in advance.

C8 is a good hub. After the reset, make sure you (re-)register the hub (if you do a full reset it will remove the registration), and I'd recheck for any updates as there have been a couple recently and you may be 1-2 back. Also check the ZWave and Zigbee details page to see if there are any radio updates available and apply if needed.

Other than that, ask your questions no matter how "small" as we've all been there.

The two big features that you'll be missing on the C8 vs the C8-Pro are the "HomeKit Controller" integration and Z-WaveJS support. The C8 still supports Z-Wave via the older Z-Wave ZIP stack.

The C8-Pro has twice the RAM and a faster CPU. The above features require the beefier hardware which is why they are not available on the older model hubs. For a small 30 device system, the C8 should be an excellent choice.

The difference between the C8 and the C8 Pro is the amount of RAM and the speed of the processor chip. I have the C8 Pro as I have over 200 devices connected. The extra RAM and CPU speed helps, especially when accessing the UI of the hub. If you only have 30 devices and do not plan to add a lot more (over time the list does tend to increase as you learn how useful Hubitat can be), the C8 hub should be more than adequate.

FWIW, I have a C-8 with over 200 devices mixed between ZigBee. Z-wave, local WiFi, Lutron and Hue hubs with a little Alexa thrown in. Lots and lots of assorted automations. No delays or lockups ever.
