I only use this for tts. Which used to work fine until the last couple hub updates. Now it is pretty much useless. Long, 15 sec, delays. Sometimes doesn’t work at all.
Didn’t mean for that to sound like sour grapes. Had to quit using them for now till hopefully the powers to be find out what’s wrong.
I added my Apple TV, but I only can see the status (playing of pause) using a dashboard tile attribute 'status' and I can see the title of what's playing in another tile..
What else can be done, can I turn it off or on maybe with rule machine??
Any tips will be appreciated..
You would need to attach the ATV to a supported outlet to do this in HE.
I do use the the playing status to check if my stereo is on, if it’s not… turn it on. depending on your setup it may or may not have any value.
I use it for TTS. Works fine with 8 home pod minis and a full home pod. No real delay (well that's not true. If you send it to multiple home pods only one will announce at a time, so it takes a few for the announcement to go through the house. Would be nice if they could announce all at once)
Is the current question about ATV?
I didn't see that particular message. No reason to play gotcha...
Original thread a year old
I play TTs messages on a HomePod mini.
My LG TV supposedly does AirPlay.
I haven't paired it in the App to see if it works (no reason).
The integration can act as a control for the HP mini.
I don't have Apple Music, but apparently you can change tracks with that.
Stop, Play, Volume.
Unfortunately, no direct http address for track play...yet, lol.
I turn up the volume in the rule to make an announcement, and then back down to the previous volume. Sometimes you have to fiddle with it, say, for the instance when two announcements are coming in close together.
They will definitely do that but as @rlithgow1 said they will only one play at a time so if you have multiple devices with a two second delay between each it takes a while and then really lengthens out any actions in a rule beyond that as they won’t execute till all the HomePods announce.
I tried the stereo pairing in Apple Home. That does not change the results.
