I have some floodlights wired to a zigbee switch module. I also have two other wall switches with only power going to them that I would like to use to control the floodlights. How do I use these three devices in unison? I tried putting all three in a group thinking when I turn one switch on the other two would also turn on. If i am reading the documentation correctly, if one device in a group changes states, the others will follow. This doesn't seem to be the case. Can someone put me on the right path to accomplish this?
Need more information. What are the makes/models of all 3 switches. There are likely multiple ways of accomplishing what want you to do.
Not sure what you mean by "only power going to them." There are smart switches?
I use the Switch Bindings app for this.
You are not reading the documentation correctly.
The way groups work is that you get a single “activator device," which, when commanded, will send the same commands out to the member devices. The activator device is a basically virtual device created as part of creating the group. Changing a member device will not do anything to other devices on its own, So you would need some other solution for that--or find a way to use the activator device instead of the real devices. What might work best for you will probably require more information to figure out, as suggested above.
The switches I want to all work together are:
1 GE/Embrighten Z-Wave toggle switch
1 Martin Jerry switch running tasmota
1 Tuya zigbee generic switch module - this is the device the floodlights are connected to
Guess I was optimistically hoping simply grouping devices would accomplish this.. ![]()
I'm just supplying power to them. They are not wired 3 or 4-way.
This sounds like exactly what I need. I'm going to set Switch Bindings 2.0 up right now.
