My goal is to use the dashboard "variable time" tile to manually set it to the time equivalent to my alarm clock.
I'd like that to trigger some lights to dim on when that time comes.
My problem is I can't seem to figure out how I can set the trigger to be = the variable time. Am I missing something?
You should see it if you use the "Certain time (and optional date)" trigger, just like you would for a specific time:
If not, make sure you have a DateTime hub variable created first; Rule Machine tends to hide options that do not have any corresponding/necessary items in your environment.
Aha! Thanks for that - the issue was I created the global variable as a String instead of DateTime!
