I'm new Hubitat (just a few days) and I'm still learning as much as I can. I do not own a Smart deadbolt but am trying to decide on which deadbolt I should buy. As a contributor to many products on KickerStarter and Indigogo I was looking at the U-Bolt Pro as a suitable option. I like the design, price and features.
I asked the project owner if it communicated with z-wave, zigbee or another protocol. The response back was Bluetooth and WiFi through their optional bridge.
From what I have understand about Hubitat, I would have to write a custom App to communicate with the WiFi protocol. My question, is it possible for me to develop the app to do this as I have not written any Apps for Hubitat but have been a software developer (C, C#) for 20+ years.
Is this something that can be done, or would I need to get additional information from the developers of the hardware to proceed? The product is not released until this summer.
If there is no API or IFTTT on U-bolt then it's not going to be easy even if you are a programmer. Also I was burned quite a few times with Kickstarter or Indigogo. It's worth waiting until they have the product out first before buying. Yes, it's more expensive but at least you will know you won't be disappointed with bugs or delay or a half ass product
That is what I was wondering. I thought it would be more difficult that it needs to be. I will look around for another dead bolt that is already compatitable with HE.
Any recommendations for a deadbolt that is available in Canada?
