Yes and i tried it again just in case i missed something the first time (sure I didn’t though). The hub is about 4 feet away from the bulb, it still gets stuck initializing.
Thank you for trying.
It seems that the pairing issue with the Sengled bulbs is different.
I have a launch day C8, I wonder if that's part of the issue. I see some people in the forums have had replacements sent and their issues seem to be resolved. At this point if I can't find a solution I'll just have to go back to my C7 which is very disappointing.
I doubt it.
Have you tried to file a warranty claim? Even if you are out of warranty, that is how you get support staff to look at your hub and see if there is some basic hardware issue. Even if they don't replace the hub, you would at least know it is a bad hub.
However if it is only this brand bulbs, I really doubt that it is a defective hub.
I would speculate this is part of, or your whole issue. Repeaters are critical for a meshed system like Zigbee and Z-wave (except ZW-long range which isn't a mesh system).
If memory serves, there is also a limit to Zigbee devices that can be directly pair to the hub, I think it is 32. If you have that many devices, you must add a repeater to allow for more devices to be paired. (By the way, some bulbs are not repeaters, and some are) Many bulbs do a poor job of repeating, and if you turn the electricity off to a bulb that does repeat, that will cause issues as well.
Many people have the best experience when they have one repeater for about 6-10 devices. You don't say how many battery powered sensors, or non-repeating bulbs you have, but maybe try a known good repeater and see if it helps your situation. It is certainly cheaper than a new hub.
Many people use a older generation hub (C5/C7) for "problematic" devices, and also for certain integrations that consume a lot of memory. You then use Hubmesh to bring them into your C8. I do exactly that, and it works fine.
In some cases running a second hub is the only solution for incompatible devices, like the older Iris V1. The C8 chipset is totally incompatible with these, and if you have a whole house full of the devices your choice is to replace every contact sensor, or just use your old hub. There are other examples of this as well.
