I have several GE Z-Wave switches around the house. Woke up to a clicking sound and the switch not functioning or responding. I replaced the switch and now I'm trying to remove the old one from the list of devices in hubitat without luck.
Remove and eventually Force Remove doesn't work...it results in an Error 500 (which I've read is a generic error code). How do I get rid of this thing?
If my understanding is correct, "force remove" will remove your dead zwave device from the hub's database but not from the radio's database. What you really need to do is get rid of it from the radio's database. Otherwise what you end up with is a "ghost" device in your zwave tables and that can cause issues down the road.
If you go to the zwave details page and find the dead device, you can try removing it from there. You may have to click on "repair" and "refresh" repeatedly but eventually a "remove" option should appear. For this remove option to work the zwave switch must be powered off, which I assume from your post it is.
If this does not work after several tries (it can take a few) there are other methods but this is the simplest.
