Trying to make a Grandfather longcase clock

Using Alexa and basic rules

Now Alexa can do it on its own but its timing is 1-6 mins out on the hour marks, hubitat basic rules is spot on with the timings but the results are about 50/50 whether it works or not, I'm using virtual contact with switch

I think you are leaving out a lot of details here.

What exactly are you trying to do, and what does your rule look like? What "virtual contact with switch" is this, it sounds like a community driver rather than built in?

It's the built in drivers. I've tried a few combinations in basic rules but all only have a 50/50 success rate, for example 08.00 chime worked this morning but 09.00 failed the rules are both identical

When Time of Day is 08:00 ...
Turn on Bell 08, Spare innr
Wait 10 seconds
Turn off Bell 08, Spare innr

Rule and pending actions can run ...
Only between 07:58 and 08:02
When Time of Day is 09:00 ...
Turn on bell 09, Spare innr
Wait until elapsed time of 10 seconds has passed, then ...
Turn off bell 09, Spare innr

Rule and pending actions can run ...
Only between 08:58 and 09:02

The spare inner bulb is there to see if the rule starts and works and always works, it appears that alexa ignores the Bell, yet tomorrow the 09.00 might work but the 08.00 might fail

just this moment the 10.00 bell failed but the bulb worked

I know it seems pedantic, but I think being more explicit about the drivers involved may help. even with some screenshots could help (I'm likely missing something.... )

In addition, some screenshots of the rule along with some detailed logs could also help.

Basically, making the leap from your statement about Alexa being able to deliver, compared to the HE setup, is a long bow to draw, others like us need some bridge to take us on that journey... Intergalactic like @neonturbo would paint it as, or more localised like I am picturing...

Everything looks ok to me, but I think alexa is unhappy with Virtual contact with switch (user)

A pre-formatted text or screenshot would make it easier to read....

The 19.13 and 19.15 events were probably me messing with things

Hmmm... That is a hard one.... (for me)

I have to go out now to have my car updated to stop it trying to attack other cars on the road.... software developers, eh.....

We can be a sadistic bunch.... That's understandable.... Once you sort that out we can try and stop your home from messing with your life.... I can't promise to be online when you have sorted your vehicular problems.

I'm convinced its that woman called Alexa that can't be bothered with trivial things that don't earn Amazon money

That's an alternative view... admittedly one that could be dulled down by discounting the apparent gender of a software solution.

Its just worked at 11.00

But how many people were sacrificed as a result.... don't forget your appointment....

I'm in no hurry and if I am i can turn all the lane keep assist and other nasties off and floor it

I do something similar but I play a different chime mp3 file for each hour on my speakers. It's completely local and never fail.

Only 2 failures yesterday at 15.00 and 22.00 after the 09.00 and 10.00 fails and as for today no failures yet

Not sure if I’m completely following here. Are Bell 8 and Bell 10 virtual switches that Alexa uses as routine triggers?

If so, have you considered using Echo Speaks instead? A bit of a pain to set up, but once set up, it’s quite reliable.

With the grief I'm getting I don't want to use Echo Speaks, I had it once until it got more complicated as there is very little use for my needs

Bell 8 through to to bell 00 are all virtual contact/switches
