Trouble pairing Sonoff BASIC-ZB1GSP on C-8 Pro

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced issues pairing the BASIC-ZB1GSP device?

My setup:

  • Hub: Hubitat Elevation C-8 Pro

  • Firmware: 2.5.1.174

Any advice on what I should try?

I had to even look up what that was. It is a Sonoff Zigbee circuit breaker? It looks like they might make a Matter version too, are you sure which version you have? SONOFF Basic DIN Rail Zigbee Smart Switch | BASIC-ZB1GSP

What happens when you try to pair this? Does it not pair, pair but doesn't work, etc.

I assume you did a factory reset on the Sonoff device, and tried pairing again, and that didn't change anything?

What are you seeing in logs, maybe screenshot those and upload pics of any messages or errors during the pairing process.

I tried two different ways to put it into pairing mode:

  1. Power cycling it from the circuit breaker. When the power comes back on, the blue LED starts blinking (which should indicate pairing mode).

  2. Pressing and holding the physical reset button on the device for 5-10 seconds until the blue LED starts blinking.

  3. I also tried scanning the QR code to add it as a Matter device, but the hub gave an error saying it is not a Matter device

None of these methods worked, and the hub still didn't connect to it..

To rule out any range or signal issues, I tried pairing a small battery-powered temperature sensor in the exact same spot, and it connected instantly. So the Zigbee signal there seems to be perfectly fine.

Did you try the other Zigbee pairing options, assuming the "normal" pairing times out? It should give you "pair exchanging keys in clear" and "use 3.0 only" or something like that.

And there were no logs? There should be something in logs. Open a new log window, try the pairing and see what it shows.

Got it sorted! I moved the hub closer and, lo and behold, it connected. The weirdest part is that the signal goes right through the closed electrical box in the basement just fine, even with the hub back in its original place.
