Trouble pairing kwikset 916

I have a 916 and I am trying to pair it to a hubitat hub, when I start zigbee inclusion it tells me to press the A button four times, the instructions tell me to push it once, I have tried it both ways and I can not get it too be picked up by the hubitat hub, I can’t even get the lights to flash green, if I hold the a button down for ten seconds the light goes red for a sec and the goes off please help

I have the Kwikset 912 Zigbee variant and it worked fine.

Did you program a master code in? If so then you will have to use that before initiating pairing I think.

Also the differences you are seeing might be between Zigbee and Z-Wave the instructions on the kwikset site are kind of mixed up as far as I can see.

If it is in fact Zigbee (are you sure?) the instructions I'm reading say "Press button "A" 4 times for inclusion, 9 times for exclusion..

You might also want to try a factory reset see panel H of that instruction manual then pair.

Note1: I figure you've probably already done some of these steps but worth going over again anyway.

Note2: Make sure your lock is not too far away from your hub or a repeating source - generally smart bulbs are bad repeaters and Sengleds don't repeat at all.

For Zigbee there are usually less complications with pairing than Z-Wave. If you still have difficulty you might have to contact their support.

Is this the newer Zigbee 3.0 version? I have a couple of the older 916 Zigbee locks and they paired in place immediately.

I go it. When I went into Hubitats add device, and tried to add it by brand and model, It wanted to do it by way of Zigbee, but it is a Zwave unit, I got it added by way of Zwave, but it came in as a Schlage lock but hey who cares, it works.

Congrats!!! If you have issues then you could set that to be "Generic Z-Wave Lock".

@erktrek is right, the Generic Zwave Driver works best for Kwikset locks - remember to hit configure after changing the driver.
