I really have no idea where to start. We moved into a new home that is fully automated using Hubitat. We've never used this software - we exclusively used Control4 prior to using - and only just gained access.

I cannot get the app to work. The previous homeowner has the admin account set to himself, and we cannot add my account as an admin. Obviously the last thing we want is for him to continue to have access, just incase. But this also means I cannot add our Hubitat to the app to control it.

I've only done basic coding and this entire thing is far beyond me. So far all I've managed to do is change a door lock and maybe turn off an entire "house deactivation" that occurs nightly at 10:00.

Please please please I am begging for help to get this thing into the app. It's been a nightmare move and I just want this over with. TIA.

We're unable to contact them unfortunately which is why this entire situation is even more of a mess. Old owner literally told us "plug in PoE and it works" and gave us 0% information on the code used.

If the Hubitat is deactivated and reactivated, does that remove all automation? Not a bad thing for us as we really don't care for it, but we're also completely in the dark of what will stop working if Hubitat is removed.

I don't think you can de-register it either without the admin login. If you could, then according to that post I think a de-register and re-register is safe and wont remove devices or automations.

I assume you have guest access to it at least, which gives you nearly full access.

If you want to see what might stop working without it, go to settings and then shut down, then unplug when the light turns red. Then you just wait and see what is impacted.

If there are any automated lights based on motion sensors those will probably stop working. Who knows what other rules are in there, really depends on what kinds of devices you have.

So anyway... you really have two options. One would be to contact support to see if they will transfer the account for you. If you can provide some sort of proof, I think they have done it for people in the past. Account Issues – Hubitat Support

The other option is a full reset from the diagnostic menu which I think also deregisters the hub in the process. But this will wipe the entire thing out, and detach all the devices from the hub. This what unplugging the hub would simulate.
