Trane XL850 compatibility

The compressor is variable speed - so no Ecobee option for me. Thanks tho!

I think I figured out why the Z-Wave / Nexia part had me confused. With the UX360 the Z-Wave bridge is built into the thermostat not a separate "hub" to install. The wording in their instructions was also confusing - reading it again now, I think they were saying if the built-in bridge has its own Z-Wave network with child devices connected to the built-in bridge.

Now the question becomes will this device driver work with this thermostat... I'm hoping/expecting they stuck with Nexia because of their own platform compatibility.

A quick search of the forums will probably turn you away from integrating Keen directly with Hubitat, just FYI. It's a trash experience and most of us ended up with expensive paperweights.

Yeah - I know all too well... I bought 17 of them back in 2016. Ecobee Suite has worked well for me for years for automation. They still suck for battery life and battery contacts corrode which destroys them with no support available. They "work" fine connected to HE - that was never an issue - well mostly, have had Zigbee issues a few times - but managing them was never an issue.

The issue for me was purely battery life. I couldn't get any of mine to last more than 2 weeks.

Hey @thebearmay I got my new HVAC installed today - yea! It is AS and my thermostat DOES show up in the app and their web app, but when I install the HE app the logs show "Discovered 0 thermostats".

Thoughts?

I believe the custom app is broken right now.
"Caught exception requesting thermostats groovy.lang.MissingPropertyException: No such property: id for class: groovy.util.slurpersupport.Node"

edit: despite that error, after hitting initialize in the child device, it does work.

Hi, @DarellCraighead were you ever able to get this working with your 360? I have the same stat going in Monday.
If anyone knows about compatibility with the UX360, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks,

Ricky

There is no direct connection capability. I solved my design using IFTTT based on HE Mode. Those trigger "routines" on the AS app. It is a 90+% solution - I get an occasional "missed" trigger for whatever reason - but I can easily open the AS app and trigger the routine (or manually change settings on the thermostat or in the app).

I just had a trane UX360 thermostat installed. It shows up on my trane web page when I log into the Trane portal. It will not show the UX360 in the Nexia Hubitat app. Has anyone come up with a solution for the UX360?

they are not compatible. i am using ifttt to run automations on the ux360. works 90% of time.

I am buying a new house that needs a replacement AC system soon. One of the systems I am considering is a Trane variable speed system that uses the UX360 thermostat. Just wondering if there have been any updates on getting it to work in HE?

Does it still use the same backend and app as the XL850 generation of thermostats? I'm wondering if the this app (the HE app) just needs to be updated or if a new one created.

I use this integration at my current home with my XL850 thermostat and have been super grateful for @thebearmay having made it

My next door neighbor just replaced his old heat pump with a new variable speed heat pump and he was able to keep his Ecobee premium thermostat.

He mentioned … I don't remember the exact reason but they did say if I chose a certain piece of Trane equipment that I would have to change them out but the equipment that I did choose is OK to work with the Ecobee.

Did they get a Bosch or Daikin variable-speed heat pump?

Would love some more details on their system.

Also interested in Trane iLink 360 integration with Hubitat.

we've had our ux360 almost 2 years now - never found any "direct" way to connect with HE. i do use IFTTT and activate "modes" to adjust temp. I have also added ux360 to HA - but have not started using HA for much - yet.

I am just using the Android app for now. My only other experience with smart thermostat apps is the Sensi app. The Sensi app is much easier to use for me. What method did you use to link the thermostat to Hubitat?
