Somewhat? 4K is 8MP as I mentioned above. This is a 5MP camera.
And they donât say 4K anywhere on that product page.
Youâre the only one that has referred to this as a 4K camera. And you said a simple Amazon search is the gateway to this new world of 4K doorbell cams. But there arenât any 4K doorbell cams on amazon.
The only jump up from a 2k camera is 4K for reference.
see above "new cam" < 4k ultra high definition @ 5 Megapixel with 166 degree field of view.
< = less than
Your reference to 4K appears to be an inapplicable one. Itâs not 4K, or 8K either (another reference, but just as inapplicable to the specs of this camera).
I'm also going to point out that 4k @ 3840x2160 is a bit over 8 megapixels... This camera specified on amazon is only 5mp which means it's still in the 2k range and like a lot of Chinese manufactured crap that gets sold on amazon and ebay, overall it's likely not going to live up to it's description..
Last note: And who destroys a perfectly serviceable doorbell without finishing testing the new one to make sure it's what they want. Because if it's not, then they're stuck with a piece of crap and their old doorbell is destroyed so they either have to buy something better and hope they can return the chinese junk or they're stuck overall and wasted a lot of money.
Letâs try to keep things on topic. We are not here to look at pics of your dogs. I repeat, do not post pics of your adorable pups in this thread that has been going off the rails ever since the OP .
Please give us an update after youâve completed testing the off-shore 2K+40% doorbell cam that also has a motion sensor. Donât forget to mention the firmware version or the tricks you had to resort to in your router settings to get it to work (in case anyone else needs to send one back).
The bottom line is as @marktheknife and others have pointed out, that the doorbell cam you are purporting to test is NOT 4k, it is still 2k. You likely are not to get a better pic than a Ring doorbell 2 or a Eufy 2k doorbell.
I'm a CCTV installer by trade and I'm not a fan of any of the video doorbells. I took a different approach....
I replaced the IP camera adjacent the front door with a model featuring microphone, speaker and alarm input/output. I've used a Hikvision DS-2CD2387-LSU/SL for this. I had/have a traditional wireless bell push with plug in or battery chimes around the house. I've relocated that into a box and connected a standard wired push to the contacts of the transmitter and also to the alarm input of the camera. This gives me:
the benefit of the standard chimes if I'm in the house and callers are unaware it's a 'video doorbell' due to the standard push
a push notification to my phone so I can start two way audio with the caller if I'm out
everything is being recorded 24/7 at 25fps in 4K by the NVR with all events bookmarked in the video for easy access on both NVR local monitor (my TV) and via the app
