May not exist, but thought i would ask.
Looking for any ideas... thanks.
I live in New England, sometimes gets down to 0 F.
I have a small 3 foot square (& 3 foot deep) well area, where my house's water pump is.
I have had an electric space heater in there, turned down low, aimed at the pump.
So for many years, OK.
We've just had that artic blast that many areas experienced, & unfortunately the temp down there in the well went to 28 F, uggg....
Now, a warm blast.... the temp in the well is 65. Can't wait to see the electricity bill.
I did find "smart" space heaters online, but users complained they are useless. One model, WiFi, needed to have the button pressed to reset the wifi. Dumb... nope.
Another stated the remote (IR i suspect) would not work thu a couple of walls. I tested an IR unit, yup, bummer.
I'm stuck.
Looking for some thing that I can turn the temp up or down remotely.
The covers on the well are extremely heavy, and i'm old.
I've bought from the Smartest House, many Zeus products.
Any thought???
Thank u everyone for reading!

I am on a shared well. We installed our own controller and an oversized pit which is about 4 feet deep and 5 feet in diameter. I have always used 135 watt incandescent light bulbs as heaters to keep the pit warm. Been working okay for 30+ years. I have a thermal switch in the control box which turns the lamps on if it is below freezing outside. The control box used to be in the pit - that's the way they did it here. When I built my controller I mounted it 4 feet above grade on the wood power pole near the pit. The cover for t he pit has insulation on the inside.
By the way I'm old too - 82 this July. Any chance you could fabricate a lighter weight cover for the pit? Our cover was fabricated by my neighbor who is a sheet metal guy. He also located some kind of insulation that is about 3", maybe 4" thick and some type of black foam type stick on product. I'm in SW Missouri and it can get below zero - but seldom does thankfully.
I suppose I should add that I do know Zeus does have a nice temp reporting device, and also there are remote on / off devices.
But the space heaters run the fan for a bit when the heat stops, to cool the heater case & wires down.
Thanks
You can use IR devices with an IR blaster, like Broadlink. Wifi will have better range than Zigbee or standard ZWave.
There is an integration for Broadlink on Hubitat where it all stays on the local wifi with no cloud dependency. You just put the IR blaster in the pit with the heater, and send it any command you learn from a physical remote. Then you can change the temperature or turn it on and off.
I have a shop that is 200' behind my house and I use a small space heater to heat the small office. I use a Zooz, I assume you meant Zooz and not Zeus, Zen15 power switch to apply and remove power to the space heater. It is a simple manual heater. I have temp sensors in the office and I use a virtual thermostat to control it. It works well. It hardly ever comes on in the winter. My shop is well insulated and I keep the thermostat set for 50. I live in the southern US and it very seldom gets cold enough to turn in on. In the summer, however, it runs constantly to turn on a small AC unit I keep in there. The AC unit requires a IR remote to start it and the broadlink hub can be controlled with HE to send the on and off command to the AC.
In my case I use a couple of these, to get wifi to my shop. I then have a router with a second HE hub connected and that hub controls the devices in the shop. With hub mesh you can control the devices on the second hub just like the ones on your main hub.
Thanks very much for your detailed info!
As I've mentioned, I appreciate the time u took to try to help me out.
We do have an awesome group of folks here.
Several ideas for me to read up on.
Thanks again to everyone.
