Do I understand this correctly - it simply serves to handle audio in to / out of Home Assistant? I don't use HA or know enough about Voice Assistant or Music Assistant to know if that is a big deal. With all of the clamoring for local voice processing, I imagine there will be plenty of opinions!
I don't have time to dig into the device but if it handles old-styles Alexa voice commands and/or commands to call playlists by track it'll be huge.
I just want to yell at a device and it does what I want, locally. Dont want LLM. A simple do X Is fine with me. Figured I would share this and see what happens.
Exactly. Bezos texted and begged me to try the LLM-ish Alexa + ...I did, but can't say I like it. After so many years with the old dumber Alexa and then patching it in to HE c4 we have the commands burned into our cortices. We have zero interest in free-form commands I just want to not depend on Alexa to do voice commands (though we'd keep it for OurGroceries). Hell, our old Echo Dots have decided to do short cuts. "Echo, kitchen lights!" is all it takes.
I don't want to add a level of complexity, either. No HA. K.I.S.S.
Honestly if it can
1 handle simple home control commands
2 set timers
3 play spotify
I'd replace all my Alexa devices
Precisely. This would be epic in our setups.
I canβt imagine it would be very good for playing music based on its size.
But otherwise sounds like an interesting development for home assistant users that want to use voice commands and TTS notifications.
I am just hoping HE gets support or if a C9 (if/when that happens) have native support.
My experience with home assistant is limited and this device says it βcomes preloaded with Home Assistant Voice Assistant and Music Assistant.β How would a current or future generation Hubitat hub interact with it?
