The Gen2 doesn't seem to work with the built in hubitat drivers. I also can't get it to work on my c7 . However, it does work on my c8 pro with the custom driver "Tuya Temperature Humidity Illuminance LCD Display with a Clock".
This driver also has temperature but I can't display it. It's not a big deal and maybe there is not really room on the dashboard tile to include the temperature but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to display both humidity and temperature on the tiles?
What drivers did you try, and did you run "Configure" after changing? Does "Generic Zigbee Temperature/Humidity Sensor" work? (That's probably the best hope if the first-gen ThirdReality one doesn't.)
For the dashboard, which one are you using? Easy Dashboard recently added a "Temperature/Humidity sensor" tile type you can choose. I don't think there's anything for legacy dashboards, though you have a lot of customization options there, and some people do things like "half height" tiles (making the dashboard twice as tall as they want and normal tiles height 2 and things like this height 1 each), one with each template, and putting them above/below each other.
Ironically, I'm using the Tuya Soil moisture sensors from Ali Express with the Built-In Third Reality driver, as that is the only driver I have found that works with them correctly.
I initially tried the "Tuya Temperature Humidity Illuminance LCD Display with a Clock" driver, and while it worked somewhat, the readings were very erratic, and sometimes temperature didn't update. I tried all the different model selections besides auto detect, most of them didn't work at all.
The Third Reality driver gives me steady reporting of both humidity and temperature with the Tuya sensors. I graphed the moisture readings and it is a fairly smooth curve. With the kkossev Tuya driver, the humidity readings jumped around erratically with the Tuya moisture sensors.
These things are great! Free shipping if you buy two of them, and no import charges.
Can you please provide a link to the specific devices you ordered from Ali that work? There are dozens just like this when I do a search.
And which model Hubitat do you have them paired with?
I have four of them on my C8.
Dam, these Tuya Smart ZigBee Soil Moisture Sensor Temperature & Humidity Meter Thermo Hygrometer Garden Automation Irrigation Detector thingys are actually ridiculously cool.
Too bad there’s basically no decent Zigbee way to run them on a C7… which feels like buying a Ferrari and being told it only takes bicycle tires.
And no...before anyone says it...I am not buying a C8 Pro. Absolutely not. At this point I’m emotionally committed to waiting for the C9… which, at this rate, should arrive sometime between “next firmware update” and the heat death of the universe. Ok maybe not the next firmware update but one can wish.
Why is that? 3.0 Zigbee devices should work fine on a C7. Is it just a range issue?
I was talking about
I might should have stuck with the ones you are using. Yours are not GEN2.
It seems the GEN2 will not work with the radio of the c7.
Edit - opps yours are zigbee 3.0. Didn't think they were. Nice that that brand will work on a c7.
I hear that often. A 3.0 zigbee device should work fine on a c7. With several of the newer devices that I have purchased that does not seem to be the case. They do not connect to the c7 but work fine on the c8.
The older GEN1 will work on the C7. And they are much cheaper. Look at the ones shown above for less than $7.00.
Clarifications please:
- Will the sensors linked by @chrisbvt above in post #4 of this thread work with a C7?
- Are the sensors linked by @chrisbvt Zigbee 3.0?
- Apparently many of you order from AliExpress. What, if any, precautions should one take when doing so (ie that you don't need to do when ordering from Amazon for example)? Different email? Separate Credit Card or Pay Pal or something else? Please advise.
Thanks
All Tuya Zigbee gadgets that I have are working OK with my C-7 hub. In case of pairing problem - reboot your C-7 hub and pair the device at a close distance, immediately after the C-7 web UI becomes responsive.
All Tuya Zigbee devices are Zigbee 3.0. I think we are mixing Tuya and ThirdReality device pairing problems here, these are different.
You can utilize a virtual credit card linked to your physical card. I am using ten different virtual cards, each with a specific purpose and a different small monthly limit (including one for my wife purchases from Temu : ) )
Also, a lot of people are using a dedicated 'online shopping only' email, for example 'yourmail+AliExpress@gmail.com'.
