Thermostat Setpoint Control

Just setup the Hubitat c-7 hub and connected the CT100 Z-Wave Programmable Thermostat. Two devices showed up in the Dashboards for the Thermostat: one named Thermostat and the other on automatically named as Thermostat Controller. Why two devices for one thermostat? and why the setpoint is not responding to in either the dashboard nor the under Devices? Please help. Thanks.

Are you referring to the device or the template? When creating a tile the device list appears on the left and the templates on the right of the Add tile dialog.

And welcome to the Community. :slightly_smiling_face:

Post a couple screenshots of the device page for your thermostat. Include the section of the page that shows what driver the thermostat is using (lower down on the Device page).

Lastly, go to you Z-Wave Details page and take screenshot of the thermostat - will look something like this:

Pics probably won't be any option just yet, need to post a couple more times I expect. But still a good idea when you are able to, screenshots often clear up any misunderstanding

True... @bobbyD - can you enable uploads for @user1138?

Also, in terms of the set point, it may depend on the current mode of the thermostat, i.e. setting the cooling set point when it is in heating, etc. I'm not expecting you have necessarily made that exact mistake, but there might be some nuances to it for other types of modes like auto, etc.

Sure, done.

Amazing service, as always!!

@user1138 - your account is now enabled to upload screen shots.

I am talking about the Dashboard item. Clicking on the 3 dots, it shows a device with the thermostat template. The thermostat is about 20 feet away. Sometimes it can be controlled via the dashboard.

Use screen shots to post logs, much easier to read and don't take up as much space.

It looks like command is being sent. Just it is not receiving well. I am converting from Vera Plus. It is working ok with Vera though.

What is the best way of maintaining the temperature at a certain degree? Basic Rule, Thermostat Scheduler or Rule Machine? I setup all three and non of them are working...

The idea behind it is to prevent user manual input on the device

It looks like you have a lot going on...for now, disable all your automations linked to the thermostat except Thermostat Controller and Thermostat Scheduler. To do this, check the box on the left column on the Apps page to disable the other automations, like below:

If you don't see those boxes, click on the grey "X" in the header of the apps screen to enable them:

For that use-case Thermostat Controller would be the recommended approach, since it takes over the thermostat's settings, and changes on the thermostat will be overridden by the settings in the Controller/Scheduler combo. That may be what's happening to you now, if you have Thermostat Controller engaged while trying to use other methods/automations.

I removed some of the apps (there is no checkbox) and unpairs some devices. Now the it responds to dashboard changes. With the thermostat controller, I set the cooling setpoint to the same value in both the thermostat and the controller. Please let me know if the settings are correct. Thank you very much for your help!

It looks like Thermostat Scheduler is doing the work. Setpoint value in the Thermostat Controller doesn't seem to have any effect.
