For a few years I have been using a Honeywell T6 Pro Z-wave with the Advanced Honeywell T6 Pro Thermostat driver, and everything has been great. Suddenly, though, the room temperature reads differently in Hubitat than it does on the thermostat display (the display is correct). It isn't a consistent offset, it's randomly a degree high or low.
Any ideas what is going on here?
C to F conversion hijinks. Which driver are you using?
I'm using the Advanced Honeywell T6 Pro Thermostat driver. It hasn't ever been a problem before.
Can you provide some numeric examples of the error you see?
Funny you mention. I had an experience yesterday with my kid telling me how hot it was when she came home. I quickly pulled out my phone and checked the events in hubitat and said no way that happened its not in the logs.
She then showed me the picture of the thermostat that showed she was correct and i had no corrsponding event in my logs. Then dropped the mic and walked away.
Otherwise ive never seen the device miss a zwave command so its worked rock solid.
Not very helpful as to why but you are indeed not the only one.
T6 zwave btw.
The Generic Z-Wave Plus Thermostat driver works perfectly with the T6 thermostat. I’m not saying the other drivers don work, I just don’t see the need to expose all the other thermostat settings, when all I need to do is set/change set points for heating and cooling. Once my 2 t-stats were setup, I never touch any other settings.
FWIW I have 3 T6 pro thermostats, all using the "Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat" driver. All read correctly.
This appears not to be a driver issue. 24 hours ago I switched the driver to Generic Z-Wave Thermostat and I am experienced the same behavior.
The thermostat works fine, responds to setpoints I send it, and displays the correct temperature on its LCD panel. The only issue I'm having is that the device in Hubitat displays the wrong room temperature. For example, just now I found the actual room temp at 78º, the display on the front of the T6 Pro Z-wave at 78º, but in Hubitat the temperature was reading 77º. I clicked Refresh on the device page and the temperature in Hubitat corrected to 78º.
So for some reason the thermostat isn't updating Hubitat with each temperature change. Is this a problem in Hubitat or with the thermostat?
I don't have this issue with either of my 2 T6 thermostats. I am using the Generic Z-Wave Plus Thermostat driver for both.
My guess it is in the thermostat firmware, which to my knowledge no one has been able to get Resideo to provide an update.
Perhaps there is also a difference between the Z-Wave and Z-Wave plus models. Mine are plus.
What is the Z-wave resolution set to in the Installer setup options (#1421)? If the thermostat displays a one degree change but it is set to only send a z-wave event on a two degree change, you would probably see a discrepancy.
