I'm in the process of moving from my Universal Devices ISY994IR/Pro to a Hubitat C8 and can't get my Honeywell TH6320ZW2007 thermostat to pair with the hub. I've factory reset the thermostat and it's very close (3') to the controller but never gets recognized even though the thermostat Z-Wave icon is blinking and the C8 is in Include mode. It just times out. Is there some magic I need to know about pairing these 2?
I don't remember having any trouble when I paired mine.
Here are a few questions to get started.
- Are you running batteries or mains powered?
- If you go to Menu -> Z Wave Setup.... does it say "Include" or "Exclude"?
- Go to Menu -> Device Info... do you have a setting for Node ID?
Okay.. I didn't want to say until I was sure.
But the Z-Wave will ONLY work when powered by mains.
It will NOT work if only powered by batteries.
Here is the manual:
Go to page 10, and scroll down a bit.
Look for "Z-Wave Connection Status".
See those icons?
I bet yours has the bottom one (the network with a little X at the bottom right corner).
From the docs...
Thermostat is either included in a Z-Wave network but the Z-Wave signal
is lost, or is included but AC power is lost (battery used as backup). In this
case, Z-Wave radio is turned off to preserve battery life. AC power must be
restored or you have to change the power mode. It can be done via excluding
thermostat from Z-Wave network and including again in battery power mode
where batteries are used as main power source. You can check the actual
power mode in the thermostat MENU/DEVICE INFO.
EDIT: Well, after re-reading three times... maybe there is a setting to switch to battery powered instead of mains powered?
Did you try running an exclusion on the C8, and see what happens? Put the t-stat in pairing mode while doing the exclusion.
You should get a message something to the effect of "unknown Z-wave device excluded". If you don't get that, you probably also won't be able to include.
What do logs say? Any warnings or errors in there?
FWIW I paired three of the same thermostats, all were powered by mains and none were real close to the Hub.
I finally figured out how to pair it. Even though the 2007 model says it goes into pairing mode on power up and the network icon is flashing, it wouldn't pair but when I manually went into the menu and set pairing, it finally paired. Now I have to figure out how to get it to show up as a thermostat because right now, it doesn't have any thermostat type controls. This Hubitat hub isn't nearly as intuitive as my EZLO or ISY994IR/Pro but I guess I need a challenge. Thanks for the quick responses.
Do you mean on your dashboard?
What device type driver is it currently paired with (go to the thermostat device settings page)?
Once you have added the device to whichever dashboard you want it to display, you then want to make sure the device and the template are both set to "Thermostat".
This should give you a tile similar to this one:
Thanks to everyone that replied to my first post. The Hubitat may be a little hard to understand but the forum participants are great. I now have my thermostat working and can proceed with all of the other ISY Z-Wave devices.
