Quick question here.
I've added quite a few devices lately (all Zigbee).
Im noticing some devices aren't working properly ( lights are not turning off or on, Motions rules not working ect...).
I have description text logging turned on on all devices. About 70 devices and 12 are repeaters.
Should text logging be turn on? Or is this overwhelming the hub?
Thanks for the info and help.
Hi @user1352 ,
It is highly unlikely that the description text logging turned on for all devices will add any noticeable load to HE hub... except you see several log messages per second for a long time?
If you go to hub Settings -> Zigbee details -> Zigbee logging, do you see extensive Zigbee communication? I mean again several log entries every single second? If in doubt, you can make a screenshot and post it here. You can choose a time when you see your devices are reacting slowly, probably when you try to turn all Zigbee lights off as example?
Another thing to try as a diagnostic trick... do said devices respond correctly when accessed individually from the devices page? If not, this is likely a mesh issue. If yes, then it could still be a mesh issue but likely of a different sort (congestion, etc).
Text logging should not overwhelm the hub; however, if you are getting a LOT of LOG ENTRIES from a single device/app with time interval less than several seconds, then that may point to a device/app in some sort of processing loop. You may not see anything.
Next, I would open a log window and go to the devices stats Tab. Just above the list is a line that reads (example) Devices: 17m 44s / 2d 0h 0m 28s total (0.6%). The 0.6% in this case is the total processing for ALL the devices. (This is real data from my hub - but I only have about 50 devices.) You can also sort the devices by the % of total to see if any single device is causing excessive utilization.
You can do the same for App stats.
This could point to potential problems and is a quick check.
Finally, try rebooting the hub. Sometimes this clears up what ever process that may be misbehaving.
Thanks again everyone.
