Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the HE hub and I am very happy with the capabilities. My goal is to get updates from the temp sensor every 1-2 mins MAX which would turn the smart plugs off if temp goes above a set target. I have tried the Sonoff Temp and humidity sensor with multiple drivers and initially it would work fine but then it will query the battery level and not report temp after that for 2-6 hours until it automatically starts working again. While it's working it responds to all the set configuration with no issues whatsoever but reliability is the issue. I purchased a hue motion sensor hoping to get better reliability based on the reviews but with the hue built-in drivers, it only reports temp changes at 5 min intervals or more and the temp seems off by 2 degrees Celsius. Could you please advise any other sensor/setup/driver which would allow me to achieve my goal, thank you.
You can try to reconfigure the Sonoff TH01 sensor using this experimental driver, and if successful switch back to the driver that works best for you.
Most of the temperature sensors are 'sleepy' devices and they will not accept any configuration commands until they wake up, which may happen after a long period of time - 5, 10 or even more minutes... With this driver you can try to switch on the option "Re-pair with aggressive reporting settings", then press 'Save Preferences' and re-pair again the sensor. The previously configured 'Minimum reporting time' should be accepted by the device as the command is sent guaranteed during the pairing process time when the device is awake.
Normally, such small reporting periods are not needed (such setting will draw the battery much faster!), but for yous special use case this may work.
Thank you kkossev for the reply, i am actually using your driver but i didn't have the Re-pair with aggressive reporting settings enabled. I enabled it and saved the preferences and re-paired the sensor. I will monitor it and see if this will sort out the issue. Would you advise me to use a usb powered zwave device like aeotec multisensor 7 which would not sleep like most of the available devices? Thank you
I don't have experience with Aeotec multisensors.. I have Eurotronic Z-wave Air Quality sensor that is USB powered and seems to be rather precise, but currently I am not using it because of some Z-wave network issues that I have (not caused by this device).
Sonoff SNZB-02 sensor is a good sensor, you should be able to configure it to report the temperature as fast as every 10 seconds and 0.1 degrees change.
I was checking the events and it was reporting every 10 seconds so i changed it to 60-120 with 0.5C change. It seems to be working but my only concern is reliability and accurate reporting because i tend to see many missing events ranging from 4 mins to 6 hours. Thank you so much for your help, i really appreciate it

Change the Hue motion temperature reporting to:
There's no need to report every x minutes if you change it to report on threshold changes, this is what your automation is interested in anyway.
The every x minutes is more appropriate for data logging...

Hey Mike,
Thank you for the support. I tried that and it will only report every 5 mins even if the temp changes by more than 0.25. Please see the attached images for more details.
Thank you

Do the live logs indicate success of the temperature configuration when save preferences is clicked?
Hi Mike, sorry for the late reply but i already removed the sonoff and installed a multisensor 7 but it can only report on temp deltas. Is there a way to configure it to report every minute same as smart things? Thank you so much
