Tablet power question

I wasn't sure where to actually put this. Here's my situation

I've got a Fire hd10 mounted to the wall it's currently on a 12v 3a power supply stepped down to 5v3a USB it's unable to keep the device charged reliably (it's set to turn the charger on at 50% but regularly gets down to Dead even with the charger on. I just switched to a QC3 rated Buck convertor thinking that it would be able to charge a little faster but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have been using a switched outlet to exercise the battery, so it's basically has it's own battery backup). My next thought is going to a 110v to 12v10a power supply (but since I've only got 1 tablet I feel that could be a little overkill). what are you using to power your tablets?

I use the 1.8A x 5.2V = 9W power supply that came with the Fire 10. It has been plugged in continuously for over three years without issue.

thanks @HAL9000 that's what my thoughts were, just keeping it plugged in and powered on without the "exercise"

I use some of these flat chargers. I ran the USB cable behind the tablet, down inside the wall, and pulled them out between the electrical box and the drywall. A small notch on the bottom of the faceplate lets me pass the cable and they're pretty unnoticeable.

The charger in the pic is a thicker one of the same style, but you get the idea.

Similarly on my older Fire HDs I ran a longer 3mtr USB C cable but put used an adaptor from Amazon that doubles back the connection behind the tablet so just the small adapter is visible and not the cable.

On my Fire HD Plus with wireless charging, I’ve recessed a QI charger plate in the wall and sit the tablet directly over it, which is neater still.

@scubamikejax904 Sounds like the battery is going dead. Before it starts expanding, I would hardwire the power supply. Simply remove the chip from the battery and solder the power leads to the board and be done with it.

Thanks @rlithgow1 that was my thought too. I put it on a way old apple charger (1a, that I keep around because...well because) and it charges up super quick even with the screen on full power and never sleeping. I am going to do a test tonight and see how long it stays on without power, but am leaning towards bypassing the battery. Not sure how difficult that actually is, I know it's beyond my skills. (If I can find a guide online I could probably get it done by someone local) any suggestions on some sort of guide?

Probably not necessary. Given that using a regular charger works, then the battery isn't shot, probably just an issue with the transformers you've been trying.

If you are still set on it, here's an older vid to give you an idea.
