I have an older home. No neutrals. I tried the GE switches but they all require neutral so no go. Anyone know other options?
This thing looks like it'll be awesome:
I'll Probably get some at some point.
Ecolink has Toggle and Decora switches that are battery operated and sit on top of the existing switch.
They're not pretty, make some noise when they turn on/off, and go through batteries quickly when the switch is used a lot, but other than that they work great.
Lutron Caseta dimmers and some of their switches do not require a neutral. To use them with Hubitat you will need the Caseta SmartBridge PRO. I know adding another hub device is not what most users want to hear, but their switches, dimmers, and especially their Pico Remotes make it worthwhile. They are also trivial to pair with their bridge, which then communicates via Telnet over your LAN to your Hubitat hub. I bought the SmartBridge Pro just for Pico remotes! Now I am starting to replace my old GE Z-Wave switches which have never been 100% reliable. The Lutron stuff just works!
There are still some scenarios where these do not work. I had an instance where I sent them my wiring and they said it would not work.
fibaro fgd 212 is made for 2 or 3 wire home
You can find 2-wire smart dimmers. 2-wire "switch" is harder to come by. Lutron is the only one currently I'm aware of that makes a "smart" 2-wire switch.
+1 on the Lutron Caseta. Easiest physical installation. After the initial hub setup it's very simple to add switches to HE. Extremely reliable devices with great range and flexibility. Picos are awesome..and cheap. Lutron support is awesome.
