Can I directly integrate the blind tilt with hubitat without using the switchbot hub? It mentions matter support but I'm not clear if I need the hub for that.
Ultimately I'd like to expose the blind tilt to google home via hubitat. Is that possible?
You need the hub as it's BT to the blinds.
I have had them for about a year and they have been working great, especially after the firmware upgrades.
They co-exist with my iBlinds as I was too lazy to crack the headers open and remove the wands.
Hub integrates through a community driver but it uses the SwitchBot API.
I did have my SB hub 7 meters away for a while but I moved it closer as I was getting the odd comms issue.
I do have 2 Blink hubs and the HE in the same room so it's a bit of an RF crowd.
Hub works fine hidden in the kitchen closer to the blinds.
Not sure how the hub communicates back to the HE, WiFi I think.
Interesting. I have no Matter devices and have stayed away due to all the dubious integration methods as it matures.
As I understand it I have to join it to say, Google, get a code and associate it with HE; the method I can certainly look up.
From there it doesn't use the cloud API anymore? I don't see that happening but tell me I'm wrong and make me happy I can get rid of my only cloud dependence.
Joining with the SwitchBot driver is just an alternate means to integration if you don't have Matter enabled. No?
Ah, didn't know there was an app for making HE act as a Matter hub now.
Still, we have the calls to China and back or are we local with this?
The limited bridge Readme's are unclear but the drivers may indicate it's now direct and local.
If so I have another Todo!
Probably 1.5 years.
The Hub 2 is overkill as I don't need the display and sensors; all that is part of my HE system.
Seems a bit unclear. US sites offer a Matter Mini but not CDN sites, Switchbot.ca store says NO. Maybe not approved here yet.
Will Hub Mini be supported with Matter over the air? Unfortunately not. Hub Mini can not support Matter with its current hardware configuration. You would ...
Infrared appliances such as air conditioners, lights, and TVs can be added to Apple Home and registered with Hub Mini Matter Enabled through Smart Learning.
