Ensure that the ârealâ device is powered off (this is typically one of the next ones in the list).
Click âRefreshâ for the device in question. May need to be repeated a few times.
Once the âRemoveâ button appears, press it. If the device doesnât get removed, go back to step 1 and repeat until it is removed.
There is a high probability that your issues are caused by these as other devices will try to route through them but are failing since they donât really exist. This is an issue with the SiLabs Z-Wave chip, so unfortunately, nothing that the hub can fix. However, removing those ghosts will allow the mesh to properly rebuild and should improve the situation. It can take time for the mesh to properly rebuild.
Removed power from home except for the dedicated circuit for the router and hub.
Used laptop to attempt device removal.
Was unable to remove them
I did remove a couple of switches and added them back --- They showed up as Unknown ZWave device during removal. Theses units appeared to have the most troubles
If i remove the devices next in line, from the ghost devices, will it remove the ghost also?
Do you have a static IP set on the hub itself? Try setting it back to DHCP and see if it works. This error makes it sound like it is having problems with the DNS hostname resolutions.
The rest of your symptoms are probably from rouge apps/drivers consuming the hub until it spirals into a non-functional state. A reboot will fix it for a while but it will just come back.
Check the logs to look for connection errors or devices and apps using high CPU time.
In my case it was a wifi device driver where the device IP changed but the driver kept trying to connect to the old IP. Must not have had very good error handling, the device being offline created all sorts of issues with the driver. As soon as I disabled all the offline wifi devices the hub acted normally again.
Unfortunately not. I think some of the issues you are having with the remaining devices might be due to the older firmware - Hopefully Jeffâs recommendation above can help you update it.
I got the firmware to update tonight. I rebuilt repaired mesh. Only 1 error. Rebooted. And it worked.
I tried to remove the ghosts again. They apparently want to stay.
The house seems to be acting normal right now. So. Maybe I just leave them.
So. Out of the 5 I originally had. I still have 4. One finally deleted.
