Sunpower local monitoring reporting through hub?

Hello, I have searched the subject and there are no recent posts on the subject of Sunpower integration.

Researching other sources I have found a couple of tools that have been developed that allow local monitoring of the SP gateway and receiving status information that presents on a web page.

I also read that the company has now made available a formal API that developers can use. I was curious if anyone that has the skills would be interested in or has attempted to work on an app that would integrate the SP system into the hub?

I also have found a HA integration app so maybe someone can port the HA app to hubitat?

There are two main reasons I feel an integration would be useful.

  1. the hub could detect if the system is working correctly or not and alert if there are issues,

  2. recognize that the utility is off and shut down AC units etc... to conserve the battery for longer.

Links to any of the above could help :slightly_smiling_face:.

Thanks for sharing!

I’ve seen write-ups similar to the guide available from the first link. Guides like that one are for systems with a Sunpower PVS monitor (I have a PVS6 but I believe there are previous generations this method can work with).

Now that sunpower pulled whatever shenanigans they did to pretend they are a different company after their bankruptcy filing, the local interface on the PVS is the only way to get at its data for free, AFAIK.

“Sunstrong,” as they’re now calling themselves, won’t give us access to most of the data available from the PVS without a hefty subscription payment.

It should be possible for a developer familiar with coding for Hubitat apps and drivers to create an integration that makes use of the PVS web interface, but I haven’t seen anyone create one yet.

Your second link is interesting and I’m not quite sure what to make of it. But I noticed a couple things/have a couple questions.

Sunpower no longer exists in the US, at least under that name. The “regions” available on the sunpowerglobal.com site don’t include the US. Sunpower solar panels were actually made by Maxeon, and if the panels each have a micro inverter, those were made by Enphase.

So I guess I’m wondering whether this sunpowerglobal.com API can be used for sunpower systems in the US with a PVS monitor?

The only other option I’ve heard of is to get the PVS removed and replaced with an Enphase Envoy monitor. No subscription needed to access its data once it’s installed, but a much higher upfront cost given the need for new hardware and a pro to install it.
