Suggestion for a new Zigbee or Zwave Lock?

I think my Zwave Smartcode 888 has “given up”, and it no longer responds to any reset command. (It physically doesn’t work any more.)

Any suggestions for a dependable Zwave or Zigbee lock? I strongly prefer one that also works with a key (just in case). Also, since I live in a cold climate, it has to have a battery compartment that is relatively sheltered from the cold outside. (It has to be available for purchase in Canada.)

I have 7 Kwikset zwave+ locks that I am pretty happy with. But I am not in a cold climate.

I have an Alfred smart lock (model DB1-B-BL) that has Bluetooth and Z-Wave and live in a fairly cold environment (the Rochester, NY area) but not as cold as you I assume. The battery compartment is on the inside of the door (ours is metal, but insulated) and did not have any issues with our winter. It also has a physical key override. My exact model does not appear to be available on the Canadian version of Amazon, but they do have multiple others (and cheaper than what I paid or currently have listed). I have the Schlage z-wave lock. Would not recommend

My choice for a new lock nowadays is the Aqara U400. I had a very reliable Schlage Zigbee lock for several years, that worked beautifully, and recently switched to the Aqara. The handsfree UWB unlocking is a gamechanger.

The battery compartment is on the inside so cold should not be an issue. There is a physical key as well as a keypad and fingerprint sensor.

I’ve been happy with three Kwikset 914 ZigBee locks. Replace batteries about twice a year. Work perfectly with lock code manager. Easy to key to match.

Is the Aqara U400 easily importable into Hubitat?

Or, do I have to go through a thread border radio, matter, etc.

Also, does it have the ability to store multiple codes?

It's a matter lock, so it needs to be added to either Apple Home/HomeKit or an Aqara hub. You can then add it to Hubitat. I have mine added to Apple Home/Homekit and Hubitat.

Save 300.00 , get an open box yale from Ebay. Zigbee is best but hard to find, Z-wave works well also. I had 2 Schlage, that I hated, in both Z-wave and Z-wave+. The TCL palm vein is excellent but not directly compatible with Hubitat, but works fantastic with SmartLife & a Tuya hub. Very fast response with just holding hand in front of keypad.
