FYI to follow up on this...this just saved my butt! Pump was running longer than 10 min and wasn't turning off. I knew because of this setup. Was able to shut it down. Found the float for the pump had failed....AND the float for the alarm wasn't working. I was able to get both fixed.
What WOULD have happened? Pump would have ran constantly until it burnt out...who knows how long that would have taken at close to 900 watts....then the tank would have filled up until overflowing because the alarm float had failed....I feel lucky and grateful I made this a project.
