Starting over with setup of new C-8

I've been using a C-5 hub for several years. I recently decided to upgrade to a C-8. Rather than going through migration, I decided I wanted to remove devices on the C-5 and add them to the C-8 and set up fresh applications/rules and possibly eventually use Hub Mesh. In any case, I started with some new Zooz devices (a couple of the new ZSE70 outdoor motion detectors, and a ZEN37 remote), and I also moved an older ZEN24 toggle switch over. I had a few false starts setting up one of the ZSE70 in LR mode but got things mostly working.

It may have been my rushing the setup and overlooking some best practices but I ended up with some strange results:

  1. I'm pretty sure that when I added the ZSE70, it showed up on the Z-Wave details page with an indication it was in LR mode. At some point, that device wasn't shown on Z-Wave Details anymore even though it existed in the devices list and was working properly (motion was detected when viewing the device).
  2. I decided to exclude/remove all the devices and now have no entries in the device list but I still have two of the devices in the Settings Z-Wave Details table. It may be related to when I removed one of the devices I got "Unknown Z-Wave device excluded" instead of the named device being excluded and removed.
  3. If I try to Remove one of the entries after shutting down the hub and powering it off for a while, I get "Z-Wave Network responded with Busy message" log entries.
  4. Throughout all of this, If I view the Z-Wave logs, it is empty. I don't know if that's normal or not.

All of this is just background for why I just want to start over and pay more attention as I go through setup. I don't really care to track down how I got to the state I'm in. My two questions are:

  1. Can I go into the Diagnostics Tool | Advanced | Full Reset and will it be as if I just opened the box?
  2. Is the Network Busy a result of the state I put the C-8 into (and if I start over it will go away) or is there some type of interference between the devices on the C-5 and what I do on the C-8?

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

You can do a full reset to start again via the diagnostics tool. Just resetting the Zigbee and Z-wave radio plus a soft reset should have done the same thing you want, and what staff have suggested to do in the past instead of full reset which messes with registration of the hub.

I seem to recall someone saying that this is a potential bug, that ZW-LR are actually paired, but just not showing in the details page, or they may show initially but disappear after a reboot. @jtp10181 am I remembering this correctly?

I don't think these missing nodes on that page is harmful, I understand this is just a visual bug, but annoying for diagnosing issues.

Thanks for your reply and the suggestion to start with a soft reset and reset of the radios. Your reply prompted me to find the ZWave Radio Reset post, which seems similar to the situation I found myself in. Fortunately, I hadn't gone far in adding devices or apps. Seeing the replies there from @csteele, @jtp10181, and @danabw was also helpful. Since my C-5 had been relatively unchanged for a while, I'd forgotten how wonderful this community is.

This is from the documentation, I am not sure if you have seen this, but it gives some good tips.

Yes, there are some issues with LR devices where they vanish from the details list for some reason. Devices still seem to work fine.

Thanks - good to know I'm not crazy (at least not in this case,)
