ST Presence Fob v4

Hi Guys,

Not sure how many got the v4 ST presence Sensor but im going nuts. Was the ladt thing for me to move from SR but i cant seem get it to work.

The Sensor is paired fine but it's always going to not present after a while.
I can be at home for an hour an triggered the leave/arrival quite a lot of times.
As such I can't use it to trigger arrival/leave automations.

Just an Example of what happens several times during the time I'm in.
The battery check-in every 30 secs as it can be seen on the logs.

I purchased two and they arrived yesterday. I paired just one yesterday and it's (correctly) showing present and has never changed. Which matches it's real condition. It should move for the first time later today.. I'll find out then if it's worth unboxing the second.

Mine were doing this as well. I have a feeling something in 2.0.6 changed how they are reporting. Unless it sorts itself out (either by the HE team or the sensors themselves), I'm using Life360 as my main presence driver.

I cant rely on mobile presence alone as I often leave the mobile at home when jogging or going for soccer.

my V4 are reporting presence correctly but the battery is not reporting reliably.
Seems to report battery when i first change the battery out (so power cycle) but then appears to stop.
All of mine I have modded the battery to AA rechageable batteries.
Fairly certain battery reporting worked before with this mod but the batteries last quit long (3-4 months) so hard to remember.

It maybe a low battery causing your issues though mine does that when the battery gets low.
looking at your live logs it says your battery is at 28

On my device page mine was saying it was at 70% but my live logs showed 22 so I changed out my batteries and it is reporting presence fine again

I wonder if the battery reporting has something to do with the firmware? Like the expected mAH (~230, I think)( is hardcoded into the firmware for the sensor perhaps?

I would tend to agree, but I changed the batteries in my sensors before I paired them with HE. Mine are currently reading 80 in one and 95 in another. But, both of them seem to "leave" and then arrive every 5 minutes.

Ahhh, gotcha. My phone goes with me everywhere.

what does your live log report for the battery reading? (not the device events)

LOL Even worse:

On the device status page, it says 50:

could be simply a bad battery right off the self

Perhaps, but in order to avoid that, I never update any of my sensors from the same pack. I've been burned by buying battery packs before that were completely bad. LOL (I'm a bit OCD about my batteries).

This is a brand new sensor. I just took the stick that was protecting the battery.
However just in case I have a battery tester and I tested the battery... it shows off as full. So battery reporting is not accurate

are both of you using stock batteries or have you modded the units?

Stock...

Side note does anyone knows how to use the key finder ability of the sensor?!

Stock

Wait... what?! There's a key finder ability? Are you referring to the tone thingy? I think I got it to work ONCE on ST. I've never tried it on HE though.

That's the one :joy:

thanks all mine are modded so was not sure if that was causing my issue
but apparently not
key finder I think it just made the sensor beep I tried it once on SmartThings but have not seen it on Hubitat
I forgot all about it
