I just read that skydrop is going to start charging a monthly fee.
So I got thinking. skydrop or any other sprinkler controller is just a bunch of relays and a 24v power supply to open the solenoid in the valve. Why not just use hubitat to control some relays. Then I started to look for a multi relay that would support 24v have 4-8 relays and be either zwave or zigbee. I couldn't find anything.
So, I'm thinking about a raspberry pi project. I can put all the pi parts together.. and expose an REST API.
anyone interested in collaborating on a IP connected multi relay device? at that point RM could be used to build rules to water my lawn.. I could give the SO (control freak) a button to water her drip lines etc..
well i did some more digging and there is a driver for the sonoff pro and its like $28 on amazon 4 dry contact relays. going to give it a try. Now to find a weather proof enclosure for the device...
