Month 2 of my trip down the Hubitat rabbit hole!
I am using a Sonoff snzb-06p in my office to control lighting. It is excellent at motion detection but I can not get it to display Illuminance.
I get most success with the Tuya 4 i 1 driver. With the Tuya Zigbee mmWave Sensor it never goes inactive. Neither report Illuminance.
I am using a Hubitat C7 UK/EU. All up to date.
Any help would be appreciated. Even if the advice is upgrade to a C8 or use sensor ABC123.
Many thanks in advance
Dave
I’ve been very happy with the Hue Motion sensor. Very good at detecting and reporting motion as well as illuminance.
I find that Sonoff and Tuya are cheap, but not always very reliable.
For mmWave, I have been very happy with the Aqara FP1 and FP2.
I didn't think the Aqara Fp1 and Fp2 are mmWave. Just normal motion detection. Or have I got something wrong?
They are both mmWave. The FP1 is Zigbee and connects directly to the hub. The FP2 is Wifi and offers multiple zones, which makes it extremely practical. However, it currently requires connecting through HomeKit and virtual devices which adds to the complexity of setting it up.
I have 2 FP1’s (one still in use, one died for some reason, and I replaced with an FP2). I have 4 FP2s in use. They bot are extremely responsive and generally detect minute motion, so are good to keep lights on when someone is stationary in a room.
My apologies. I was thinking of the P1 and P2. Thanks for helping. Homekit is Apple? Is it local?
It is an Apple protocol, but there are other systems that can serve as a Homekit "controller" for Homekit devices. For example Home Assistant can, raising the possibility that such compatibility may be added to Hubitat in the future.
Yes.
Many thanks everyone. FP2 ordered. Expect more help requests soon!
Seems to be a feature of the device:
Unfortunately, the devices does not report the illuminance in Lux, but just dark/light.
