I thought I'd plug the Mini into a spare TalentCell battery backup. Got a C to USB adapter. No good. Apparently, not enough power, or so the Mini's mind tells it so. I tried it with a spare power bank I had...amber light from the Mini.
My takeaway is that I'd have to do a bunch of research to find an uninterruptible power supply for the Mini, spend a fair amount of money, all for marginal results (am I really caring about voice announcements during an outage-it might be nice, I suppose).
Google says the Mini needs at least 18w, and it comes with a 20w power adapter.
I would think something like this would work. I use a 15W powerbank as my Hubitat UPS.
Does that do pass through, I mean, there's no interruption?
That'd be more important for the hub, I would think, so maybe I could be less picky.
Not sure. I use this one with my Hubitat Hub.
I leave it plugged into the wall and to Hubitat. It continues to power the Hub during power outages and it starts recharging again when power returns, without ever dropping power to the hub.
The Home pod mini is very picky about power. The 20W part is easy enough to do but it has to at 9V and at least 2.22A. If your USB-C battery does not do 9v (not all do), it will be a good start.
This is from the Anker MagGo Power Bank manual and has the correct volts and amps but somehow the watts aren’t enough… even though 9v @ 3a is greater than 15 watts. Either way if your battery can output 9v at, at least 2.22a and at least 18w, it will be good to power your HP mini.

Now, all I need is a converter from the 9vdc output jack on the talent cell to a usb c female, lol.
It may not be that easy. USB-C does a handshake that determines the output. Simply providing 9V over the plug may have unintended consequences.
This is an excellent point, there are DC \ USB-C converters that handle this for you… Though i’ve only used them USB-C -> DC, so your mileage may vary.
