Well, I just added this... it took a few pairing attempts to get this to come onboard and start reporting accurately. Not that it didn't come up the first time.
It comes up as DEVICE and while I have switched that to the HE Third Reality Soil Moisture built in driver (and it seems to be working) but whenever I go to look at LOGs it continues to show up as "DEVICE" and not the new name I gave it. I guess that may shake out with time?
You have to be careful screwing it back together with the small finger hold it allows otherwise you end up grabbing the sensor stem to get leverage.
Also, first attempt to stick this in soil, and pulling it out to check it, I see a small scratch in the conformant cover layer of the sensor board (down to the copper?) that a small piece of coarse sand in the soil must have done. So yeah, it seems they really do want you to dig a hole and back-fill up to the sensor vs "sticking it in".
As others have noted, the numbers are pretty much meaningless without collecting your own data based on dry vs moist per your desired soil level.
