My hub is a c8 pro. New device is smartwings shades. I am trying to automate this device, they show in devices and i am able to open, close and set to a position.
In basic rules they don't show up as a device and in visual rule builder i am able to set them to open or closed but not a intermediate location (half open).
This is how you know you are ready for RM. You’re being limited by the capabilities of the simple automation tools. RM gives you full automation access. Take it slow, there is a learning curve. Once i got a handle on RM i dont even bother with the other tools.

Which motor did you get? With RM I can set the % I want open (besides, of course, 100% open or 100% closed).
Do I need their hub?
What driver are you using?
Our shades are zwave zebra.
You can set percent in rule machine and open close in visual rule builder.

I just pared them with the c8 hub, no extra drivers.

Visual rules builder does not allow setting a percent open/closed, but does allow open/close. If you want to partially opn/close you can use rule machine.
Both have a learning curve.
