Smartthings multi sensor and battery drain from accelerometer

Is there a way to turn off the accelerometer in a Smartthings multi-sensor? I do not see a way to do it with the driver. I am having serious battery drain issues. I am using them as tilt sensors on my overhead garage doors. They catch a ton of wind here in West Texas and it dawned on me that it may be because accelerometers sending events to the hub every minute. I installed new batteries a week ago and they are now at 57%. Here is a sample of one of the logs:

Well, it looks like there is not much interest in this issue. So what I did was to replace the Smarthings multi-sensors with some NYCE tilt sensors that I had from my Iris days.
